Why meetings hold.
Every team can show you booked meetings. Almost none can show you held ones — because the number that pays your payroll is the second one. The mechanism, unblurred: a meeting holds when the buyer picks the time.
The difference between booked and held
A meeting is an appointment the rep made for themselves until the buyer makes it theirs. The moment a prospect chooses their own time — and confirms who's on the call — they've staked their calendar on it. People protect what they chose.
Most teams book with a fork: "Tuesday, or Thursday?" Two of your slots offered to someone else's day. Held rate is decided in the last three stages: find the gap, defer deep questions to the meeting itself, close assumptively and confirm logistics.
Where held meetings are won — stage by stage
The Ridge
A soft goal question when things go vague — the buyer describes "solved" in their own words. That's the stake.
The Summit Push
Education first; deep questions deferred, so the meeting is where the answer lives — not a formality.
The Summit
An assumptive Zoom close: "I'll send the invite — mostly you, or someone else on?" The buyer confirms their own time and people.
